What we measured
We modelled one day and one hotel night for groups of two, three and four across 50 international destinations. All costs and matcher thresholds are stored as USD-base estimates. Currency conversions use fixed illustrative rates of USD 1, EUR 0.92, and GBP 0.78 rather than live exchange rates.
Metric sources: This mock-up uses modelled values. A publication-ready version should verify hotel prices through Google Hotels or Booking.com, meals and rideshares through Numbeo and local operator quotes, private tours through Viator or GetYourGuide, paid attractions through Tiqets or official venue pages, and contactless readiness through central-bank or payments-industry reports.
- Hotel cost: the estimate changes by room configuration. Two travellers use one double room, three use a triple or family-room equivalent, and four use two double rooms with a small multi-room saving.
- 4-seater rideshare: an estimated daily taxi and rideshare total for the whole group. The same vehicle cost applies for groups of up to four.
- Private tours: a representative private experience with a base price for two travellers and an incremental charge for each additional guest.
- Group meals: the total increases with group size, while the individual share becomes slightly lower as more dishes can be shared.
- Paid attractions: an estimated per-person ticket cost for a museum, landmark, exhibition, or similar visitor attraction. The illustrative estimate uses 90% of the city’s per-person private-tour benchmark, with a USD 12 minimum.
- Contactless readiness: an illustrative readiness estimate, not observed transaction data.
How scoring works
The group-total view presents whole-group costs for four travellers. The traveller-count controls recalculate room configuration, meals, private tours, and paid-attraction costs before dividing the total between two, three, or four travellers. For each selected group size, affordability is normalised against the lowest and highest per-person totals in that group, then combined with contactless readiness using a 65% to 35% weighting. Cities with the same displayed whole-number score are ordered by their unrounded score. Higher scores indicate lower individual costs and easier cash-free group spending. Scores are relative to the selected traveller-count cohort and should not be compared directly between group-size views.
Limitations and interpretation
The headline saving is the unweighted arithmetic mean of the modelled per-person difference between travelling as a pair and travelling as a group of four across all 50 cities.
Important: This is an illustrative concept dataset created to demonstrate campaign design and interactivity. Values are plausible estimates, not audited market research, and should be replaced with verified source data before publication.
